FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine. A surgical stapling apparatus comprises a movable stapling head selectively travelling forwards and away from first and second clamping elements. The movable stapling head is configured to drive staples from a cassette. In one version of the apparatus, one of the clamping elements may comprise an anvil. The anvil comprise at least one forming surface configured to deform staples as they are driven from the staple cassette. In various version, the anvil can be adjusted by a slipping adjustment shaft and/or a throw-over claw.
EFFECT: in one version, the anvil can be adjusted by slipping relative to the staple cassette for adjusting a distance whereat the staples are being deformed.
