SUBSTANCE: authentication system includes a client, a mobile communication device and an identification information provider, means of transmitting, from the client to the identification information provider, a request to obtain user authorisation, means of receiving, at the client, an authentication request from the identification information provider having a first link which is a URL address, means to be used by the client to transmit a request, to the mobile communication device, to identify the client at the identification information provider, means to be used by the mobile communication device to transmit a user identification request of the client, having a first link, using a mechanism for automatically switching to the first link, means of comparing the link transmitted to the client and the link received from the mobile communication device and means of obtaining, from an authentication server, identification information for the user of the mobile communication device if the link received by the identification information provider from the mobile communication device matches the link sent to the client by the identification information provider.

EFFECT: simple authentication procedure while ensuring high degree of safety.
