NATURAL GAS CLEANING SEPARATOR Russian patent published in 2014 - IPC E21B43/34

Abstract RU 2509886 C1

FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: separator includes a cylindrical housing with tangential inlet and outlet connection pipes, and a cover plate with an axial channel and a bottom with a drain connection pipe. The inner surface of the housing is stepped throughout its height. With that, the inner diameter of the lower part of the housing exceeds the inner diameter of its upper part. A casing, a filtering element in the form of a hollow cylinder, a conical sleeve and a support washer are coaxially arranged inside the housing. The conical sleeve is attached to the lower part of the casing, and a centraliser is installed inside it. Upper and lower end faces of a filter element interact respectively with the conical sleeve and the support washer. The centraliser and the support washer are connected to each other by means of a tension pin with nuts. The main cylindrical spiral is arranged in an annular space that is formed with the inner surface of the housing and the outer surface of the casing. The additional spiral is arranged in the annular space that is formed with outer surface of the filter element and inner surface of the casing. Turns of both spirals can have the shape of a round, an ellipse or a parallelogram in a cross section. Direction of their coiling coincides with direction of gas flow movement inside the housing. Pitches of spiral coiling shall be chosen considering the fact that passage area between adjacent turns of the main spiral shall be less or equal to cross section area of the inlet connection pipe at the point of its connected to the housing, but larger than the passage area between adjacent turns of the additional spiral.

EFFECT: creation of a separator that is reliable in operation and easy-to-operate, and capable of effective cleaning of natural gas from particles of dropping liquid and mechanical impurities.
