FIELD: machine engineering.
SUBSTANCE: shell-tube catalytic reactor contains a vertical cylindrical housing in which technological sections are installed. Each of the sections consists of a tubular shell in which a reaction tube filled with a catalyst is placed coaxially. A lid is mounted on the shell from above, and a bottom in the shape of a glass with a flange is mounted from below. A branch pipe is coaxially connected to the lower end of the reaction tube, which is hermetically withdrawn out through the axial channel in the bottom. In the annular space between the shell and the reaction tube, a main spiral coil spring with a variable coiling pitch is installed, the coils of which cooperate with the inner side surface of the shell and with the outer side surface of the reaction tube. In the annular space between the bottom and the branch pipe there is an additional spring, the coils of which cooperate with the inner side surface of the bottom and with the outer side surface of the branch pipe. The direction of winding of the main and additional springs is the same, and the inner diameter of the main spring exceeds the outside diameter of the additional spring.
EFFECT: increasing efficiency of the heat exchange process between the reaction tubes and heat carrier by ensuring the optimum operating temperature of the catalyst while reducing the overall dimensions of the reactor.
