FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to components of high-temperature combustion systems with improved performance. Disclosed are versions of a combustion system component, having a composite material and a metal base, where the composite material contains silicon carbide and a refractory metal salicide which contains a phase selected from Rm5Si3, Rm5Si3C, RmSi2 and combinations thereof (Rm denotes a refractory metal, selected from molybdenum, tungsten and a combination thereof). Also disclosed is a method of preventing accumulation of slag, ash and charcoal on a surface, which involves placing an outer layer of said composite material on said surface.

EFFECT: disclosed combustion system components are highly resistant to chemical action of slag, thermal shocks and fatigue breakdown, acid corrosion and reducing media.
