FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used during diagnostics of internal combustion engines (ICE). ICE is put to nominal thermal conditions, and temperature field is measured on outlet header surface. Outer header configuration and coefficient with allowance for peculiarities of exhaust gas movement in outer header are determined. Then exhaust gas actual temperature (Teg) is calculated for each cylinder by formula: Т e g = k n p α a ( Т с 1 Т a ) ( 1 α e g + δ λ k ) + Т с 1 , where k - coefficient considering number of outlet header windows; n - cylinder sequence number; p - value dependent on outlet header configuration peculiarities; αeg - exhaust gas heat transfer coefficient, W/(K·m2); αa - air heat transfer coefficient, W/(K·m2); λk - thermal conductivity of outlet header material, W/(K·m); δ - outlet header wall thickness, m; Tcl - temperature of outlet header outer wall, K; Ta - outside air temperature, K; Teg - exhaust gas temperature; then it is compared to reference and particular location or several locations of engine malfunctions are determined.

EFFECT: reducing labour intensity and diagnostics time, increasing informativity.
