FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed method consists in that internal combustion engine is brought to nominal thermal mode and temperature field of exhaust manifold and vibration level opposite each cylinder is measured twice: in idle mode at nxx=nmin and nxx=nmax; determining header configuration and coefficient taking into account features of exhaust gases movement in collector, after which actual temperature of exhaust gases T*ICn is calculated for each cylinder taking into account index of heat load of ambient medium T**. Nn min; Nn max,—value of complex index at minimum and maximum rotation frequency respectively. Comparing the actual complex index with the reference one, the technical state of each cylinder and the engine as a whole is determined.

EFFECT: technical result of the proposed invention is higher accuracy of diagnosis of technical condition and wider field of use.
