SUBSTANCE: invention relates to field of analytical chemistry and is intended for application in determination of fractional composition of coal tar pitch. Method of determining fractional composition of coal tar pitch includes application of a drop of sample, which represents solution of coal tar pitch in solvent, on chromatographic plate with a layer of sorbent. As sorbent selected is liquid, ensuring change of spatial position of sample particles in the process of solvent evaporation or formation of colloid particles, visual identification of rings appearing on the plate relative to standard sample, formed by dissolution of 100% standard fraction of group composition under the same conditions as the analysed sample, and further quantitative analysis of fractions.

EFFECT: simplification of method of determining fractional composition of coal tar pitch, and increased rate of its realisation.
