FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medical equipment, namely to devices for treating pelvic organ prolapse (POP), and more specifically, but not excepting to vaginal support devices. A vaginal pessary having a size and a shape to reducing an organ prolapse, comprises a substantially flat body and a state change mechanism. The substantially flat body comprises at least two rib sections designed at least in one state to be extended along a vaginal axis and to apply a force to facing vaginal walls along the axial length. The above body is designed for at least two states: (i) a squeezed state wherein the above body have a size to be inserted into the vagina; and (ii) an extended state wherein the above body have a size and an adequate rigidity to reduce a prolapse, and wherein the above ribs extends along the vaginal axis and apply a force to the facing vaginal walls. The state change mechanism is integrated with the above pessary and designed for reshaping the above body from one state to the other. The mechanism uses no fluid flow to change the state. The pessary has stable shape and size in both states. A pessay system comprises the above pessary considerably deflecting flatness and designed for reducing a prolapse when inserted into the vagina, and an applicator designed for holding the above pessary in the squeezed low-tension state when it is adequately shaped to be inserted into the vagina. According to the second version the pessary comprises the substantially flat body having a frame made of at least one elongated element and designed at least in one state to be extended along a vaginal axis and to apply a force to facing vaginal walls along the axial length. The above body is designed for at least two states: (i) the squeezed state; and (ii) the extended state wherein the above body have a size and an adequate rigidity to reduce a prolapse, and wherein the above frame extends along the vaginal axis and applies a force to the facing vaginal walls.
EFFECT: improving the therapeutic procedure.
