FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises calibrating cut under preset cutting modes, producing trial chips to define optimum cutting conditions from parameters of said chips. To expand application range, used trial chips parameter represents chip element thickness corresponding to the depth of plastically deformed zone (Δx). Its relationship to cut layer thickness (a) is defined while optimum cutting mode criterion is taken to be cutting rate or feed whereat Δx/a varies from 0.9 to 1.1.
EFFECT: expanded applications.
