FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises cutting with registration of thermal EMF generated by interaction between cutting tool and billet materials. Contact zone temperature is defined and related to thermal EMF. Cutting parameters are changed to obtain another set of related data for calibration graph to be plotted. To up the temperature measurement, cutting tool side surface is ground. Said ground side surface is illuminated by beam of coherent monochromatic radiation. Interference pattern is formed in video camera object plane due to interaction between reflected and reference beams. Changes in interference patterns related with displacements of side surface are continuously recorded by video camera. Tool cutting part is withdrawn from cutting zone while contact area temperature is defined by changes in interference patterns before cutting and after withdrawal of cutting tool.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of measurement.
