FIELD: mechanical processing of materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to determine the relationship between the thermoelectromotive force (thermo-EMF) and the temperature that occurs during turning, that is, for calibrating a natural thermocouple cutter-part. The method includes heating the contact zone of a jumper located on the part and a metal cutting plate, in the hole of which a junction of a control thermocouple is placed, electrically isolated from the tool holder and connected to a multimeter, which registers the temperature, while a millivoltmeter is used to register the emerging thermo-EMF between the part and the metal cutting plate is placed, based on the registered temperature and thermo-EMF, a calibration graph of the natural thermocouple cutter-part is built. In this case, the jumper contacts the workpiece through a pin with a diameter of 2 mm, and the electric wire, with which the millivoltmeter is connected to the holder of the metal-cutting plate, and the electric wire connected to the workpiece through the current collector form a junction, which is placed in a container with ice. The heating of the contact zone of the jumper and the metal-cutting plate is carried out using an air heater while the heated zone is blocked off with refractory heat-insulating gaskets.
EFFECT: use of invention makes it possible to increase the accuracy of calibrating the natural thermocouple cutter-part for the turning process.
