FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanical processing of materials and can be used to determine relationship between thermo-electromotive force and temperature occurring at turning, i.e. for calibration of natural thermocouple cutter-part. Method comprises heating contact zone of metal billet and metal cutting plate in hole of which there is a junction of control thermocouple, electrically isolated from cutter holder and connected to multimeter, which is recorded temperature, wherein millivoltmeter is used to detect occurring thermo-electromotive force between workpiece and metal cutting plate, and based on the registered temperature and thermo-electromotive force, a calibration chart of the natural thermocouple cutter-part is plotted. In vessel with ice there arranged are wires, by means of which millivolt meter is connected to current collector, electrically connected to workpiece, and to holder of metal cutting plate, and contact zone heating is performed by means of gas burner with enclosure of heated zone with refractory heat-insulating pads.

EFFECT: use of the invention increases accuracy of calibration of the natural thermocouple cutter-part for the turning process.
