SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medical equipment, namely to drug delivery devices. The device comprises a start-up drive mechanism and a drug cartridge, with the cartridge detachably attached to a body. The drive mechanism comprises a body, a drive element, a piston rod, a shut-off element and a clamping element. The drive element rotates in a second direction about the body for drug dose delivery and is splined to the piston rod. The piston rod is driven in a distal direction about the body with the drive element while it rotates in the second direction. The shut-off element prevents a rotation movement of the drive element in a first direction opposite to the second direction as it is geared with the shut-off element. The clamping element moves with respect to the body between a delivery position and a start-up position; when the clamping element is in the delivery position, the shut-off element and the drive element are geared to prevent the rotation of the drive element in the first direction with respect to the body, and when the clamping element is in the start-up position, the drive element and the shut-off element are out-of-gear, the drive element can rotate in the first direction with respect to the body, and the piston rod can move in a proximal direction with respect to the body.

EFFECT: invention provides higher reliability of the drive mechanism and more accurate dose delivery.
