The device contains: case (10, 350); drive mechanism (5); cartridge (301) containing drug (307), while the cartridge is retained in a set position relatively to the case, and the drive mechanism is made with the possibility of dosing of the drug from the cartridge; cartridge preload system (400) containing at least one elastic element (402, 403) and at least one force-transferring rigid part (401), in which the force-transferring rigid part is retained in the case with the possibility of movement, the cartridge preload system is located and made with the possibility of application of a force to the cartridge for maintenance of the cartridge in the set position, the specified force is created by at least one elastic element, and the force-transferring rigid part is functionally connected to at least one elastic element so that the force-transferring rigid part perceives this force. A method for modification of a drug delivery device is additionally described.
