FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: biocompatible coating on transosteal stainless steel implants (12X18H9T, 12X18H10T) are prepared by air oxidation at multiple sequential thermal cycles of heating and cooling wherein heating of the implants in a furnace for every 5-10min is followed by removing from the furnace for short-term air cooling for 5-10 sec. The heating cycle in the furnace involves implant oxidation at a temperature of 300-600°C for 0.3-1.0 h to form an oxide coating on the surface; the cooling cycle of the implants after removal from the furnace for 5-10 sec every 5-10 min of the heating cycle is accompanied by oxide coating cracking to form a heterogenic micro- and nanostructures.
EFFECT: method enables preparing the oxide micro- and nanostructured high-osteoconductivity coating highly adhering to the bone tissue.
