FIELD: physics, control.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to systems for monitoring and controlling movement of aircraft. The method of monitoring ground movement of mobile objects within a specified area of an aerodrome, represented by landing strips, taxi lanes and aircraft and maintenance equipment parking places, involves using a sensitive fibre-optic cable connected to a coherent optical reflectometer as a virtual vibration sensor. Coordinates of topographic points on the area of the surface within a specific area of the aerodrome are tied to the position of the virtual vibration sensors. During monitoring, amplitude and phase of the detected vibrations are measured and combined processing of the obtained information is performed. The system for carrying out the method comprises a sensitive fibre-optic cable connected to a coherent optical reflectometer and lying within the specific area of the aerodrome along landing strips, taxi lanes and aircraft and/or maintenance equipment parking places. Lateral arrangement of the cable repeats the configuration of the arrangement of the landing strips, taxi lanes and aircraft and maintenance equipment parking places.
