SUBSTANCE: invention relates to surveillance system and method for detecting a foreign object or damage to an airfield by foreign objects. System comprises one or more cameras for capturing images of airfield. Processing unit detects foreign object or damage to airfield by foreign objects based on images captured by one or more cameras. Surveillance system detects weapon impact in airfield and directs one or more cameras to capture images in an area of detected weapon impact.
EFFECT: technical result is more effective and safe detection of foreign object or damage to airfield by foreign objects.
