SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an image forming apparatus. The result is achieved due to that the solid-state image forming apparatus includes a plurality of pixels arranged two-dimensionally in a matrix, a reference signal generating circuit configured to generate a saw-tooth signal, a counter circuit configured to count according to the output saw-tooth signal, comparators arranged in columns and configured to compare signals read from pixels with a saw-tooth signal and storage units arranged in columns and configured to store digital data, wherein if the comparator output does not change during the analogue-to-digital conversion period, digital data of a predefined value are stored in a storage unit.
EFFECT: providing a solid-state image forming apparatus and a method of controlling the solid-state image forming apparatus, which can process overflow without increasing the size of the circuit.
