FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention discloses a method for assessing a risk of a developing intrauterine infection in a newborn if observing blood Chlamydia trachomatis class G antibodies in a mother. The method is implemented as follows. Amniotic fluid is examined. Amniotic fluid is sampled in the process of delivery and examined for the albumin (ALB) concentration by the standard colourimetry, for the alpha-2-macroglobulin (α2-MG) concentration by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. If the α2-MG concentration is more than 0.050 g/l, and the ALB concentration is more than 4 g/l, a high risk of developing intrauterine infection in the newborn is diagnosed. If the α2-MG concentration is 0.050 g/l or less, and the ALB concentration is 4 g/l or less, a low risk of developing intrauterine infection in the newborn is diagnosed.
EFFECT: method is non-invasive and requires no special complicated conditions and techniques of amniotic fluid sampling from the mother; it makes it possible to detect the intrauterine infection in the newborn and to take timely therapeutic measures, thereby enhancing neonatal survival and recovery chances.
