FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, particularly to neonatology, and can be used for early prediction of neonatal pneumonia in premature infants with extremely low body weight (ELBW) and very low body weight (VLBW). In the peripheral blood of child on 1st day of life, the level of C-reactive protein is determined by turbidimetry, Apgar score on 5th minute of life taking into account child's gestational age and subsequent calculation of prognostic index (PI) by original calculation formula. If PI is more than 0, a low risk of infections specific for the perinatal period is predicted, and if PI is less than 0, a high risk of developing this pathology in premature infants with ELBW and VLBW is stated.
EFFECT: method enables predicting the development of perinatal infection in premature infants with ELBW and VLBW from the first day of life.
