FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to organic chemistry and specifically to a novel method of producing 3-methyl-6,7-dialkoxy-3,4-dihydroisoquinoline hydrochlorides of general formula: , where R1=C2H5, R2=H (Ia); R1=R2=CH3 (Ib), characterised by that the compounds I (a,b) are obtained by reacting eugenol with alkyl iodides in phase-transfer catalysis conditions (benzene/18-crown-6/KOH), followed by cyclocondensation of the formed 3,4-dialkoxy-allylbenzenes with corresponding nitriles and treating the obtained base with hydrogen chloride in an ethyl acetate medium.

EFFECT: novel method of producing dialkoxyisoquinoline derivatives, characterised by simple and readily available reactants and avoiding the use of inflammable and expensive reactants.
