FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method involves material sampling and fixing in a fluid, de-watering and casting in paraffin, preparing sections. Before an enucleated eye is fixed, its sclera is underrun with filaments at a depth of about 1 mm at least in two points, e.g. from above or from below, as well as from the side, e.g. from the nasal or the temporal side. A filament is made of a material inert to the material used in preparing sections, e.g. linen or synthetic one, besides the filament colour is varied with suturing sections. After the marked eye is fixed in the fluid and casted in paraffin before sectioning, the eye is placed taking into account its initial direction considering the above filament marks.
EFFECT: providing maintaining of the original position of the sample from the moment of the eye enucleation to the section preparation that enables preserving its structure, shape and integrity, increasing an information value of the prepared sections of the histological preparations considerably and providing higher diagnostic accuracy.
