FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to ophthalmology and can be used for implantation of intrastromal corneal segments in type I corneal ectasia. The segment is implanted so that it overlaps an ectasia region as much as possible, while an entry incision for tunnelling is arranged along a strong meridian of the cornea. If a spherical equivalent of refraction (SE) is 1-2.45, a segment thickness D makes 150 mcm; if the SE is 2.5-3.45, then D is 200 mcm; the SE of 3.5-4.95 shows D making 250 mcm; if the SE makes 5.0-6.45, D is 300 mcm; if the SE is 6.5 or more, then D is 350 mcm; the segment arc length is specified depending on the ectasia area (S), namely if S is no more than 12.75 mm2, the arc length makes 160°; if S is more than 12.75 mm2, the ark length is 210°.
EFFECT: method enables reducing a risk of developing induced astigmatism and a risk of segment extrusion.
