FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology. Intrastromal corneal segment is implanted in pellucid marginal corneal degeneration. One intrastromal corneal segment with arc length of 210 degrees is used. An intrastromal tunnel is formed at depth of 80% of the corneal thickness in the area of an internal diameter of 7 mm and an external diameter of 9 mm and an entrance cut perpendicular to the plane of the tunnel. Thereafter, an intrastromal corneal segment is implanted so that a strong axis as shown by keratopography crosses the middle of the implanted intrastromal segment.
EFFECT: method allows reducing spherical and cylindrical components of refraction, as well as levelling mixed corneal astigmatism with improved visual functions of patients.
