FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: assessment of the cerebral blood flow autoregulation (CBFA) in the main intracranial arteries is carried out. For this purpose a linear rate of the blood flow in the medium cerebral arteries and systemic arterial pressure are registered for not less than 4 minutes. A phase shift between spontaneous fluctuations of the linear rate of the blood flow and systemic arterial pressure in an M-wave range is calculated by means of cross-spectral analysis of the obtained time series. A value of the phase shift lower than 0.5 radians, reflecting CBFA reduction is a surgical treatment indication. The method increases reliability of assessment of impairment of intracranial volume ratios, which is achieved due to determination of the phase shift between spontaneous fluctuations of the linear rate of the blood flow and systemic arterial pressure in the M-wave range. The particular value of the phase shift lower than 0.5 radians is an adequate index for carrying out surgical treatment.
