FIELD: instrumentation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement of liquid metal flow rate by process based on interaction of moving fluid with magnetic field. This interaction follows the law of electromagnetic induction which states that electric field is induced in fluid crossing the magnetic field to make the measure of volume flow rate. Proposed flow meter consists of the pipe with no insulating coating, electrodes connected to the pipe outer surface, magnetic duct composed by hollow cylinder at least 5 mm in depth and two carcass-free saddle-shape magnetic field excitation inductors. Every carcass-free coil is shaped to ellipse enveloping the pipe, its mid coil axis located along pipe generatrix makes 0.5-0.6 of channel diameter while axis of mid coil located along pipe perimeter makes 1.0-1.2 of the channel diameter.
EFFECT: higher precision of measurements.
