FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry of adamantane derivatives and specifically to a method of producing 1-(1-adamantyl)-3,4,5-trinitro-1H-pyrazole of the formula given below, which can be a starting compound for synthesis of therapeutically active substances. The disclosed method of producing 1-(1-adamantyl)-3,4,5-trinitro-1H-pyrazole includes binding an adamantane derivative with a hetero-organic compound, holding the reaction mixture at solvent boiling point for 3 hours, separating and recrystallising the product. The reaction mixture is first held at 0°C for 1 hour and the product is separated by distilling the solvent. The adamantane derivative used is 1,3-dehydroadamantane, the hetero-organic compound used is 3,4,5-trinitro-1H-pyrazole and the solvent used is diethyl ether with molar ratio of 1,3-dehydroadamantane to 3,4,5-trinitro-1H-pyrazole of 1:1.
