FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a salt product with low content of sodium, products obtained using said method and use thereof for human or animal consumption. The method includes obtaining a salt product containing sodium chloride (NaCl) and at least one additive. The salt product has particle size from 50 mcm to 10 mm. The method comprises steps of: a) mixing a material containing sodium chloride, with a particle size which is 1000-3 times smaller than that of the finished salt product, and an additive with a particle size which is 0.5-2 times that of the material containing sodium chloride, b) compacting the mixture of particles obtained at step (a) with pressure of 40-400 MPa, c) grinding the compacted salt product to obtain a given particle size ranging from 50 mcm to 10 mm. The steps are carried out in dry conditions. The material containing sodium chloride further contains a material which substitutes sodium chloride, and the material which substitutes sodium chloride is selected from a group consisting of potassium chloride, magnesium chloride, calcium chloride, choline chloride, ammonium chloride, magnesium sulphate, and at least one additive for enhancing taste and/or boosting taste of the product and masking unpleasant taste of the material which substitutes sodium chloride.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a product for endowing a salty taste with low content of sodium and an improved taste.
