FIELD: power industry.
SUBSTANCE: fission nuclear reactor comprises an active zone, a heat-transfer fluid basin and a heat exchanger. The active zone comprises a lattice of hollow channels containing molten salts of fissile isotopes. The channel lattice is at least partly submerged in the heat-transfer fluid basin. The channel lattice comprises a critical area, where the density of fissile isotopes during reactor operation is sufficient to cause self-sustaining fission reaction. The transfer of heat from the molten salts of fissile isotopes to the channels is achieved by any one or more of the following processes: natural convection of the molten salts, mechanical mixing of the molten salts and generation of fluctuations in the flow of fuel salt within the channels. The molten salts of the fissile isotopes are completely retained in the channels during the reactor operation.
EFFECT: improved heat exchange between the molten salt and the walls of the fuel channels.
