METHOD OF PRODUCING CERAMIC FIBRE BASED ON ZrO AND SiO Russian patent published in 2014 - IPC C04B35/48

Abstract RU 2530033 C1

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of producing ceramic fibre based on ZrO2 and SiO2, which includes a fibre-forming solution containing a Si(OR)4 compound, where R is an alkyl or aryl, a zirconium compound, an acid and an organic solvent, concentrating the obtained solution to the required viscosity, forming fibre from said solution and heat treating the obtained fibre, wherein the zirconium compound used is aqueous zirconyl chloride solution and the solution further includes at least one zirconium oxide stabiliser precursor and a water-soluble polymer. The zirconium oxide stabiliser precursor used is a salt of a metal selected from a group comprising yttrium, cerium, magnesium and calcium, in amount of 0.25-6 mol% of the content of zirconium oxide. The water-soluble polymer used is polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene oxide, polyethylene imine, polyvinyl pyrrolidone in amount of 2-10 wt % of the total content of basic components of the fibre-forming solution. The organic solvent used is ethanol, propanol, acetone, glycerol, ethylene glycol. The fibre-forming solution is concentrated under a vacuum.

EFFECT: method of producing fibre based on zirconium and silicon oxides, which enables to obtain ceramic fibre based on ZrO2 and SiO2 with a diameter of less than 20 mcm with the required phase composition and improved strength properties.
