FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises the feed of pulse current at current density of 10-700000 A/cm2 and pulse duration of 10-7000 mcs. Cutting tool comprises cutting part insulated by dielectric washers with mechanical properties at high temperatures of up to 1500 degrees. Current is fed by contact roller to be pressed against the billet by resilient spring elements. Note here that coolant is fed to insulated cutting part.
EFFECT: higher cutting power owing to ruled out arc short-circuiting with cutting part.
