SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a liquid crystal display and a method of controlling power supply thereof. The liquid crystal display comprises a liquid crystal display panel, a panel driving section, a backlight section, a backlight driving section and a control section configured to control panel driving and backlight driving. When the display is powered, the control section controls backlight driving such that the backlight section is set in on state, wherein the backlight section illuminates the panel from the back surface. At the end of a given time interval from setting the on state of the backlight, the control section controls panel driving such that the panel is set in an image display on state, wherein the panel displays an image.

EFFECT: providing a quality image even in low temperature conditions and avoiding complication of the design of the liquid crystal display.
