METHOD OF PREDICTING LARGE AMPUTATIONS OF LOWER EXTREMITIES IN PATIENTS WITH 2 TYPE DIABETES MELLITUS, COMPLICATED BY NECROTIC AFFECTION OF FEET Russian patent published in 2014 - IPC A61B5/01

Abstract RU 2530745 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to surgery, and can be applied for the prediction of large amputations of lower extremities in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and atherosclerosis. For this purpose a thermal sensor is applied on skin of a palm surface of the distal phalange of 2 finger of the examined person's right hand. Temperature at rest is measured for 10 minutes. Then, with continuous registration of the temperature, an indirect cold test is carried out with immersion of the left hand into a basin with a water-ice mixture at a temperature of 0°C for 3 minutes. The obtained temperature results are transformed into amplitudes of oscillations by wavelet analysis in the range of frequencies of 0.02-0.05 Hz. Results are fixed on 10-th minute before the test and on 13-th minute after finishing the cold test. Then, dynamics of the temperature oscillation amplitude (A) is evaluated by a certain mathematic formula. If A value is higher than 0.00049 carrying out large amputation of the affected lower extremity is predicted.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to predict development of life-threatening complications of diabetic foot syndrome and if necessary to start pathogenically justified therapy at a proper time.
