FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: in a cascade accelerator there are two sets of capacitors, which are accordingly connected in series and switched on via diodes. The cascade accelerator comprises an acceleration channel formed by means of holes in electrodes of the capacitors set, and the acceleration channel is directed at a source of particles placed in the electrode area with the highest voltage. At the same time the electrodes that may have spherical or elliptical geometry are insulated in respect to each other up to the acceleration channel with the help of a solid or liquid insulation material.
EFFECT: combination of a possibility to provide for high achievable energy of particles and compact design of an accelerator during submersion of a source of particles into a solid or liquid insulation material.
