FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: provided is a sensor having a sensor head, having an opening for receiving a sample to be analysed. The head has a pair of optical interfaces, each located at the corresponding opposite internal surface of the opening in order to limit the path for optical radiation through the opening. At least one of the pairs of optical interfaces has an element which transmits optical radiation in the wavelength region(s) of interest, and is arranged to enable optical radiation to move between the internal part of the sensor head and the opening. The sensor also has a movable diaphragm, in which one of the pairs of optical interfaces is arranged to move through said diaphragm, and a drive is placed in the sensor head and in operational connection with the diaphragm in order to control movement thereof to change the path length for optical radiation.
EFFECT: reduced negative effects of reflection between interfaces, obtaining more quantitative and qualitative properties of the sample.
