FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building and may be used in metal cutters for machining various parts. Composite worm cutter comprises several lengthwise grooves to receive thrust and support strips to make tool units. The latter are secured by screws with the help of clamping and thrust keys to prevent axial shift. Cutting elements are located in thrust strip angular grooves with the help of clamping wedges. Flat vertical surface and opposite surface arranged at angle α1. One surface of clamping wedges is flat and vertical while opposite surface is arranged at angle α. Every next plug-in tool unit is shifted relative to previous one by magnitude defined by enclosed calculation formula.
