FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, vertebrology, arthrology, to the integrated treatment of patellofermoral arthrosis. The method involves normalising the tonus of the vastus muscle as a part of a quadriceps combined with active knee movements. Each session is started with relieving the detected functional blocks in LII-III, LIII-IV, LIV-V, LV-SI. That is followed by massaging superficial pre-patellar tissues by sequential gradual retraction from one edge of the patellar to the other one and massaging aponeurotic layers with the sharp of the hand along the fibres, and giving a relaxing periosteal massage within the beginning of the external vastus muscle. Isometric relaxation of the great adductor muscle promotes the higher tone and the improved function of the internal vastus muscle. The massaging session aims at providing more elasticity and relaxation of the external suspensory ligament of the patella. That is followed by normalising the functions of the external, internal vastus muscles and the rectus muscle, relieving myofascial trigger points in the external and internal vastus muscles. The patella is fixed with a bandage with a silicone patellar ring that prevents the lateral displacement of the patella, between the therapeutic sessions and for 1-1.5 years after eliminating the functional muscular imbalance.
EFFECT: method provides elimination of a pain syndrome, improving the muscular tone and tolerance within the given region, recovering a congruence of the joint surfaces, patellar range of motion with the presented effects maintained for a long time.
