FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed process comprises mixing in planetary mill of superdispersed titanium carbide powder obtained in self-propagating high-temperature synthesis and containing salts of potassium and sodium chloride with that of main charge including aluminium and copper at 9:1 ratio and compacting of obtained composition. This results in base metal containing 8-12% of superdispersed modifying composition. Application of said pseudo base metal at modification of aluminium alloys allows to refine dendrites α-Al by 2.6 times.
EFFECT: possibility to grind dendrites.
