FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of non-ferrous metallurgy and can be used in the production of aluminum-silicon alloys. The method for modifying aluminum-silicon alloys includes introducing a modifier into the melt, mixing and holding, while as a modifier a compact is used, obtained from powders with a particle size of 1-5 mcm, containing, by wt.%: 40-60 composite powder, consisting of 28-30 Si and 70-72 Al2O3, obtained by mechanically activated self-propagating high-temperature synthesis, 35-45 silumin powder, 5-15 copper or tungsten powder.
EFFECT: invention improves the strength of the aluminum-silicon alloy by 1.2 times, the ductility by 2.5 times and reduce the porosity by 2-4 times.
