SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication technologies, in particular, to mobile devices. The method and system of wireless signal detection by mobile devices are proposed. The method of gathering data about the wireless signal sources by user terminals, connected to a short range low-power wireless network is characterised by sending broadcast messages via the user terminals, requesting information about the wireless signal sources from the low-power wireless network. Then the terminal receives the said information, checks it for desirable signal sources, available sources and their signal parameters. After that, the terminal clarifies a degree of the signal parameter uncertainty in order to connect to the desired signal source. The obtained data is stored and continuously updated in a local cache of the terminal and broadcasted via the public low-power wireless network.

EFFECT: higher efficiency of mobile devices due to obtaining the information about the wireless signal sources.
