FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used in studying the corneal structure by confocal microscopy. That is ensured by examining a cornea with using a disposable optically neutral soft contact lens. The lens has a base curve corresponding to a corneal curve radius, with a thickness of no more than 90 mcm and a moisture content of no more than 40%. The lens diameter shall not be 1.5 times higher than the flap diameter in case of examining the cornea after a laser-assisted in-situ keratomileusis (LASIK). After the cornea is examined after a photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), the corneal diameter shall not be 1.5 times higher than the de-epithelisation diameter.
EFFECT: method enables the safe layered confocal corneal microscopy that is a contact examination technique, at an early stage after any eximer laser refraction operations.
