FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method consists in iodine sorption and following desorption. As a sorbent applied is activated coal, obtained from fruit stones and nuts shell, subjected to double stage carbonisation in a carbon dioxide flow. For iodine desorption applied is a 0.5-1 N alkaline reagent solution. As the alkaline reagent applied is a solution of ammonium hydroxide or a mixture of sodium sulphite and ammonium or sodium hydroxide.

EFFECT: increased degree of purification of solutions and gas mixtures from iodine.
