SUBSTANCE: invention relates to imaging systems and methods. The imaging system comprises a radiation source which emits radiation which passes through a region of analysis and a detection system which detects radiation passing through the region of analysis and generates a signal characterising said radiation. The detection system comprises a first detector array and a second detector array. The first and second detector arrays are separated detector arrays. One of the detector arrays can mechanically move between a first position where the detector array is on a path on which the emitted radiation passes and a second position where the detector array is outside the path. A reconstructor reconstructs the signal and generates three-dimensional image data characterising said signal.
EFFECT: use of the invention enables to maintain coverage, rate of scanning, maximum tube current and reduce the dose for a patient when operating in high-resolution mode.
