FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: insulator intended for fastening as a single insulator or with a column or chain of insulators, high-voltage wire in electric installation or in a power line is described. The insulator contains an isolation body and a fixture installed on its ends of the first and second elements of the fixture. The first fixture element is designed with a possibility of connection, directly or through the fastening device, with a high-voltage wire or with the second fixture element of preceding high-voltage insulator of the named column or chain. The second fixture element is designed with a possibility of connection with electric installation, or with a power line support, or with the first fixture device of the consequent high-voltage insulator of the named column or chain. Besides the insulator contains four or more electrodes protruding into three or more discharge chambers, located in the insulating body. The discharge chambers are housings opened towards space around the isolation body, and are equipped with protuberances installed inside housings with a possibility of limitation of the value of discharge clearance between electrodes. The edge electrodes are connected electrically to the fixture or go out to the surface of the insulating body.
EFFECT: decrease of spread in values of discharge clearances between electrodes at manufacture of the insulator, that ensures a reliable protection of electric installations and lines from lightning discharges, and also increases the life expectancy of the insulator.
