FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of removing a nitrogen compound from vacuum gasoil (VGO), which includes contact of the initial vacuum gasoil with a phosphonium-based ionic liquid, non-mixable with VGO, with obtaining a mixture, containing vacuum gasoil and the phosphonium-based ionic liquid, non-mixable with VGO; and the separation of the said mixture with obtaining an effluent, which contains vacuum gasoil, having the lower nitrogen content in comparison with the initial vacuum gasoil. The content of nitrogen in vacuum gasoil is reduced by, at least, 40-80 wt %. The invention also deals with another method of removing the nitrogen compound from vacuum gasoil.

EFFECT: high efficiency of the nitrogen removal from vacuum gasoil.
