FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to repair and reconditioning of large-sized round shafts. This process comprises control over surface for surfacing by non-destructive process at determination of shaft cross-section macrostructure in critical cross-sections of transition of surfacing metal to mother metal. Note here that availability of accumulation of non-metal inclusions in metal is defined. Section of surfacing start and finish is defined proceeding from the shift for maximum remote distance of selected sections from the rise of accumulation of non-metal inclusions to shaft surface. Prior to surfacing, shaft surface is heated at transition of surfacing metal to mother metal for distance and depth of (0.5-1.0) c, where c is thermal influence zone, to temperature that allows removal of residual welding strains in selected cross-section. After surfacing shaft surface is subjected to decelerated cooling at said sections.

EFFECT: higher safety is shaft operation, control over possible residual strains at transition of surfacing metal to shaft surface unrepaired section.
