FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering. The thermal overload protection (10) for an electric component (20), in particular an electronic component, comprises a switching element (12) to short circuit outputs (18, 46) of the component (20) or to interrupt current-conducting connection (14) between at least one output of the outputs (18) and a current-conducting element (16) of the thermal overload protection (10), an actuator (22) to shift the switching element (12) to the respective short-circuiting position or disconnecting position and a heat-sensing actuating element (24) that leads to actuation of the actuator (22). It is envisaged that the actuator (22) may be reswitched for the purpose of its actuation from its dormant state wherein the switching element (12) cannot be shifted by the actuator (22) even under action of the actuating element (24) to its final state when the switching element (12) can be shifted by the actuator (22). The invention is also referred to the respective assembly, which comprises the substrate (44) with conducting paths, at least one component (20) placed on the substrate and least one thermal overload protection (10).
EFFECT: more reliable operation of the device.
