FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: thermal overload protection device (40) for electric component (12) mounted at mounting arrangement (10) comprises current-conducting elements (14, 16), in particular, of electronic component, which contains plurality of soldered connections (18, 20) ensuring contact of one of current-conducting elements (14, 16) with the respective output (22, 24) of electrical component and separator circuit (30) for disconnection of at least one of these connections (18, 20). The component is component (12) or it contains at least component (12). At that separator circuit (30) creates prestress of component (12) in regard to mounting arrangement (10) at least in case of heating for the purpose of spatial separation of component (12) from at least one current-conducting element (14, 16) by means of shifting component (12) along surface of mounting arrangement (10) and actuates when soldered connections (18, 20) are melted.
EFFECT: creating device and method for overload protection of the component on the basis of fast and reliable protective mechanism with as low as practicable demand for space perpendicular to surface of the mounting arrangement.
