FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: diode tube for producing high-current large-cross-section electron beams for exciting high-power gas lasers, solving tasks in radiation technology, plasma chemistry and environmental protection. A beam is obtained using explosive-emission cathodes and multisided electron beam injection through foil windows into a gas chamber, which is an anode, is provided. Magnetic field in the diode is reduced using reverse current leads which connect walls of the vacuum and gas chambers, in the form of rods of a small diameter, placed in openings in cathode holders.
EFFECT: reduced size of the diode tube and number of current leads needed to supply voltage to cathodes.
